Hagia Sophia, Bialystok
 
    Bialystok's church Hagia Sophia (Holy Wisdom of Christ) is a miniature on scale 1:3 the temple situated in Constantinople (nowadays Istambul). The Byzantine temple in Constantinople was build on VI c.n.e. from the foundation of Justynian I by Izydor from Miletus and Antemios from Tralles. Architect Michal Balasz is the author of the project of Bialystok's temple. Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Dimitrios I consecrated the corner stone under the building of a new church, in November 1987. With Patriarch Dimitrios also the than Metropolitan Bartholomew was stay in Poland. Already as Ecumenical Patriarch BARTHOLOMEW I was visit of Poland on October 1998.
 
 
  
 
    On the day 15.10.1998 Hagia Sophia church was solemn consecrate. His Holiness Patriarch BARTHOLOMEW with His Beatitude Metropolitan SAWA presided of Divine Liturgy. On the liturgical ceremony take part Greek bishops accompany to Patriarch, all bishops Polish Orthodox Church and many priests and crowd of faithfuls.     Two years 4th persons Greek painters group is worked to the frescos in the church Hagia Sophia. The painters group is directed professor Konstantinos Xenopoulos. His apprentice: Konstantinos Tzitzilis and married couple Leonidas and Maria Tsauparoglou, collaborate him. Professor Xenopoulos is lecturer iconographics on University of Thesaloniki. He was educate and later lectured on famous iconographical school at Mount Athos, until recently only ones iconographical school in Greece. Greek painters was obtain bless from Constantinople Patriarch BARTHOLOMEW, which was participate in the ceremony of church consecrating. Polichromy in the temples cupola is gift of Constantinople Patriarchate to Hagia Sophia Church in Bialystok. Polichromy of altar part is personal gift painters.
